WAVE Executive Board
The Executive Board consists of the roles of President, Vice President of Business Affairs, Vice President of Parent Participation, Treasurer, and Secretary. These are voting board positions.
President - Felix Flores
The President provides vision and direction for carrying out WAVE’s mission. Responsibilities include overseeing all functions and business of WAVE, supporting planning teams and subcommittees, ensuring necessary resources are allocated, and serving as the official representative to school administration. The President facilitates regular meetings with the Executive Director, Principals, WCS Board of Directors, and WAVE members and sets the agenda for monthly WAVE meetings. All positions, except the K-5, 6-8, and High School Leads, report to the President of WAVE.

The VP of Business Affairs assists the President and carries out the President’s duties in their absence. This role provides strategic financial and administrative recommendations and oversees all major partnerships for all WCS fundraisers, including the Fall Festival, International Festival, Olympic Triathlon, and Uniform Swap/Spirit Store. The VP of Business Affairs leads business partnerships and sponsorships for WAVE, manages hospitality and community-building events, and reviews new business proposals/contracts. The VP serves as a member of the Business and Finance committee and attends WCS finance committee meetings as a liaison for WAVE.

The VP of Parent Engagement assists the President and carries out the President’s duties in their absence. The VP of Parent Engagement focuses on meeting WAVE’s parent engagement goals. Responsibilities include leading all community events, supporting fundraising efforts through parent involvement, maintaining a list of committee leads, facilitating transitions for committee leads, and advertising vacant committee positions. This role also oversees and coordinates the WAVE class ambassador program and promotes new ways for WAVE members to engage with the school and meet their family volunteer hour goals. The K-5, 6-8, and High School Leads report to the VP of Parent Engagement.

The Treasurer manages WAVE’s finances, including receiving and disbursing funds, maintaining accurate financial records, and presenting reports at WAVE Board meetings. Responsibilities also include creating an annual budget based on WAVE’s calendar and ensuring all business accounts, including bank accounts and vendor agreements, remain in good standing.

The Secretary collaborates with the President to prepare and monitor meeting agendas and record meeting minutes for approval at WAVE meetings. This role prepares official WAVE correspondence, assists other board members, maintains transparency on Board action items, and ensures the Board follows bylaws and policies. Additionally, the Secretary collects and disburses physical mail.

The Leadership Team consists of the K-8 Campus Principal, the High School Campus Principal, Communications & Marketing Lead, Website & Technology Lead, K-5 Lead, Middle School Lead, and High School Lead. These roles are non-voting board positions and help support the actions of the executive board.
Communications and Marketing Lead - Armando Jimenez
Oversees creation and distribution of flyers and social media posts. Consults with WAVE Executive Board, reports to WAVE President.
Website & Technology Lead - Dave Edwards
Oversees and manages the WAVE website and associated technology.
K-5 Lead - VACANT
Attends all WAVE Board Meetings & Planning Meetings to provide input and consultation as a representative of the K-5 families.
Middle School Lead - Allyson Evans
Attends all WAVE Board Meetings & Planning Meetings to provide input and consultation as a representative of the Middle School families.
High School Lead - VACANT
Attends all WAVE Board Meetings & Planning Meetings to provide input and consultation as a representative of the High School families.
WAVE Event Committee Chairs & Leads
Each WAVE event has a chair that is the overall coordinator for the event and who oversees the committee for the event. Each event committee is then made up of leads for each of the areas/features of the event. Event leads report to the event chair, and the event chairs report to the WAVE VP of Parent Engagement.

WAVE Class Ambassadors
WAVE Class Ambassadors serve as a communication liaison between Westlake teachers, parents, and WAVE. They are important members of the Westlake parent community, as a source of information for upcoming events, activities, and volunteer opportunities for their child’s class.
We hope to have at least one ambassador per classroom/grade. WAVE Class Ambassadors report to and work closely with the VP of Parent Engagement on the WAVE board.
